MWSS Annual Holiday Party
Last General Membership Meeting of the Year!
You can buy tickets at the door (cash only), or purchase tickets online here.
Please join us on Sunday December 8th at the beautiful Historic Day House, located at 512 West North Ave, for our last General Membership Meeting of the Year and a joyous holiday party!
The party starts at 5:00pm and entry to this event is $20 per person, which covers your MWSS Membership fee for the upcoming 2025 year.
This is a potluck-style party, so please bring a side dish (or dessert!) to share. Mains will be provided by the MWSS.
Wine and beer will also be provide by the MWSS.
Halloween Block Party on Veto Street
All are welcome at the 4th Annual Veto Street Halloween Block Party!
Bria and Jimmy have been hosting this Spooktacular block party for the last three years in honor of Jimmy’s wife, Bria’s mother, and lifelong Northsider, Sandy; who passed away unexpectedly in 2020. Sandy embraced everything Halloween - her favorite time of year - and was known for her love of dancing, so what better way to honor Sandy than combining all of her favorite things?!
This year, the Mexican War Streets Society is honored to be able to sponsor this beloved block party. We hope you'll join us to celebrate the season, honor Sandy’s memory, and dance the night away to live music while enjoying the company of friends and neighbors.
All ages are welcome at this FREE outdoor event, which will be held rain or shine. Light beer will be available free-of-charge to 21+ guests while supplies last. BYOBoos after that! Check back here as we get closer to the date to see the final line-up of events and activities.

For those who have been here for a long time, you know Halloween is one of the craziest nights of the year in this neighborhood. We typically get between 700-800 kids, if not more! So, for any neighbor who wants to participate or not, at least be prepared with enough candy!

Voting will take place virtually (over social media & MWSS Membership Newsletter Blasts) between Saturday October 26th - Saturday Nov 2nd. Winners will be announced by that weekend of November; So keep a look out for more information!
Houses must be within The MWSS Boundaries- The Mexican War Streets Boundaries exist from North - South: West Jefferson- West North Avenue; East & West: Federal Street (Garden Theatre Block)- Brighton Road).
This event is only for the exterior of the house, not inside.

52nd Annual Mexican War Streets House & Garden Tour
The Mexican War Streets Society continues to build upon its mission of preserving and promoting the historic significance of our neighborhood. Each year we uphold our rich tradition of producing the most established House and Garden Tour in the city of Pittsburgh.
We are proud to announce that our 52nd Annual House and Garden Tour will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 11 am – 5 pm, and will present beautifully restored homes, as well as private and community gardens.
Our tour is never cancelled and always goes on—rain or shine! Tickets are $30 per person and will be sold ONLINE ONLY. Please note: There will be no tickets sold on tour day. Click the "Tickets" button on this page to get yours today!

Annual Yard Sale
A special thank you to our featured vendors, who you can find in the Sherman Ave parking lot!
Join neighbors in the Mexican War Streets to sell, hunt for treasure, and traverse the neighborhood during our annual summer yard sale. Food trucks and vendor booths will be found at the Sherman Ave parking lot.

Women of War Streets Get Together
Join the Women of the War Streets (WOWS) for their May get-together. WOWS is a group of women from the Mexican War Streets and surrounding neighborhoods who meet to socialize and network once a month.

Allegheny Commons Ribbon Cutting
Pittsburgh Parks will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 30 at 6:30 pm to commemorate the completion of Phase 2 of construction. Food and family-friendly activities will be there, and MWSS will have a booth at the celebration while we join Mayor Ed Gainey, Rep. Bobby Wilson and other Pittsburghers to celebrate.
The festivities will take place in the park between Federal Street and the George Washington statue.
2024 Progressive Dinner: Shamrock Soiree
We are excited to kick off our first event of the year - The Annual MWSS Progressive Dinner! In honor of St. Patrick's day, as we are holding this event at the beginning of March, and the fact that Pittsburgh goes ALL-OUT for St. Patty's Day, we figured it just made sense to party hard and celebrate the beginning of Spring and good hearty comfort food!
Join us on Saturday March 2, 2024 at 5:00pm for an evening of food, drinks, networking, and lots of fun as we traverse from group-to-group to our individual dinner & dessert houses. Your ticket price pays for us to keep the Progressive Dinner intimate.
GUESTS, NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS, AND FAMILY ARE ALL WELCOME! AGE 21+ **Max 2 persons per registration**
Your ticket includes admission to the happy hour, food, and wine/beer. All we ask is that you coordinate with your group to bring a side dish. Groups will be announced on Friday, February 23rd.

If you are not familiar with this tradition, once a month the MWSS hosts a neighborhood-wide social event where we try to promote as many neighbors to come out onto their stoops and enjoy the summer weather with snacks and drinks and make new friends while also having a great time with existing friends. Networking is the name of the game here.
Stooping is weather permitting, and as always you do not have to wait to stoop once a month- YOU CAN STOOP ANY TIME!

Guided or Self-Guided?
This tour is a Self-Guided Tour. You will pick up your tickets at our Welcome Booth located at 604 West North Avenue at the Inn on The Mexican War Streets (which is Stop #1). Your tour booklet includes a map of each house on tour, labeled by number, amongst other points of interests in the neighborhood.
Where is parking for this event?
Parking is any available street parking in the neighborhood + surrounding areas. There will be 3 parking lots available to park in, on a First Come First Serve basis:
Parking Lot #1- Corner of Brighton Road & Jacksonia Street (across from Rite Aid/Dollar Tree)
Parking Lot #2- Sherman Ave Parking Lot (1201 Sherman Ave). Entrance is located between Wolfrum Street & Greeves Way
Parking Lot #3: Church Parking Lot (1204 Buena Vista Street)
Will there be bathrooms available?
Restrooms will be located across the street From Mechanic’s Retreat Garden at the corner of Buena Vista Street & Jacksonia Street where vendors will be set up.
