Join us to continue the process of establishing design guidelines for the

Mexican War Streets Expansion Historic District and provide your feedback on

the Draft Guidelines before they are finalized.

The City of Pittsburgh Department of City Planning is working to establish a set

of design guidelines for the Mexican War Street Expansion Historic District. The

district participates in the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office (PA

SHPO) Certified Local Government (CLG) Program, which requires illustrated

design guidelines to provide a framework to review permits and approvals for

locally designated historic properties.

The objective of this project is to develop and document best practice

guidelines for the treatment of historic buildings within the expansion area of

the district that meet PA SHPO's standards and reflect the input of the

community.
